Performing across Western New York and beyond, Steve Balesteri finds himself equally at home on both small and large stages alike.  Over the years Steve has not only developed what is an ever-growing catalogue of cover songs, but has also created a project that has the ability to perform in a number of configurations.  By being able to perform as anywhere from a solo act up to an 11-piece band, Steve is able tailor his shows to nearly any audience or venue, all while maintaining his signature sound and a top-quality show.  Steve’s repertoire also includes a growing list of his original material, combining his own brand of Pop/Soul Dance music with fun upbeat grooves, relatable lyrics and his warm rich vocals, to create music that resonates with all ages.

Born to a very musical family, it was no surprise that the Buffalo native would take to music himself.  Steve started performing at a young age, joining every singing group that his schools offered.  Among these groups was the Amherst High School Varsity Singers, a select all-male ensemble which he would not only join but direct as well.  He would turn this group into an all a cappella ensemble modeled after the college groups he had heard, namely the University at Buffalo’s Buffalo Chips.  After high school Steve went on to attend the college and not only joined the Chips, but became their business manager.  Steve would graduate with honors with a degree in business, something that he would utilize in the years to come as he began his career in music.
After college Steve started singing at local clubs, performing music from the Great American Songbook as well as many Italian favorites.  This was a great introduction to the music scene and a great way to learn what a career in music might actually look like.  In the years that followed, the young artist, eager to learn and improve, would take the guidance of many friends and advisors, trying many different musical styles and never wanting to dismiss what might be a great idea.  However, after years of musical experimentation, Steve took a step back and realized he had too much music and too many ideas inside of him to follow any path but his own.  It was at this time that Steve began working with some of the musicians he had met during those years and created a project that focused on the music that resonated with him, which would be rooted in Pop music.  The new “Steve Balesteri Band” quickly found its footing and would soon grow from what started as a 5-piece band into an 8 piece ensemble complete with an in-band DJ.  A true “feel good” party band, the group developed a huge repertoire of cover songs, performing all the current Pop/Soul radio hits as well as classic Pop, Soul/R&B dance tunes  and popular throw-backs and party favorites.  This huge mix of songs were given fresh arrangements and when combined with the talents of some of the area’s finest musicians, have created a high energy show that is enjoyed by audiences across the region.
Steve worked to create a show that could be performed as small as a solo acoustic act and as large as an 8 piece band and still keep the same repertoire and vibe but would allow him to tailor the performance to match the venue he is performing at, be it a small acoustic show at a lounge or the full band at huge party at one of the premier events around town.   This has led Steve to perform at countless venues around the area, with a constantly growing list of notable appearances.  Some of these  include headlining the Jazz stage at the Buffalo Italian festival, the first anniversary party of the new and very noteworthy newspaper “The Public,” the Statler City Ice Ball, and several events for the very prestigious Salvatore’s Italian Garden’s including their “Buffalo in Black” party as well as their 2015-16 New Year’s Eve Masquerade Gala.
In addition to these performances, Steve has just completed his second year of a very special annual holiday concert in the historic Village of Williamsville called “Christmas in the Village.”  Sponsored by the Village itself, the show features Steve performing holiday favorites accompanied by a big band complete with horns and strings!  The show also highlights different featured vocalists each year.
Combining elements of the music he grew up listening to, Steve has also recorded and released his original material.  He teamed up with bassist/composer and producer RiShon Odel Northington to produce these compositions.  Steve released 2 singles, “Drowning” and “Would You Find Me” and in the Spring of 2014 Steve, recorded a live EP, “Live in Studio” at the GCR Audio in Buffalo.  The EP was recorded live in front of an audience and was also filmed, capturing an exciting performance complete with horns, strings, backing vocals and full rhythm section.  You can see the footage by visiting the video page on this site.

During this time of recording and performing, Steve continued to hone in on exactly the vibe he had been searching for.  The band began to take on a new life of its own and Steve really began to find his footing not only as a vocalist, songwriter and frontman, but as a guitarist as well.  Steve has since teamed up with producer and multi-instrumentalist Carlton Campbell to further develop this new sound.  In the midst of recording a new full-length album, Steve was suddenly hit with the idea for a Christmas song and the team decided to put the album on pause for a moment to record his new creation, "It's Christmas," which was released just after Thanksgiving and was featured at his 3rd annual "Christmas in the Village Concert" that December.  Immediately following, Steve went back to work and finally completed and released his first full-length album "Day and Night"!!  Currently Steve has turned his attention to building the "show" that will serve to bring this music to crowds near and far and allow him finally share his creations with the world!  To hear Steve's new album "Day and Night" please visit the "music" page, and be sure to visit the "shows" page to see where he is performing next!
